What do grasshoppers do all day?

WORD: Prepare

BUG: The grasshopper God made all the bugs in the world! And just like the grasshopper has to prepare before he leaps into the air, we need to prepare our hearts to learn about God!

BIBLE VERSE: “Be prepared for action.” 1 Peter 1:13

STORY:
John the Baptist (Matthew 31:12)

PRAYER: Dear Jesus — I know that you have a plan for the world–and even me! I want to be ready to learn more about you. Help me to start making good decisions. Amen.

Parents
Are you prepared for action?

God asks us to “always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.” (1 Peter 3:15).

This comes from having a relationship with God and trusting that He will not only give you opportunities to share your faith with others–but the words to do so as well.

If you don’t already, be intentional about taking some time each day this week to talk with God. Ask Him to give you an opportunity to share your faith or encourage someone, and then expect awesome things!

Birth-Age 2
You can teach your child about being prepared.

The next time you need to leave the house, talk to your child about all the things you need to bring along: sippy cup, snack, extra clothes, diapers, wipes, keys, toys, etc. Then ask for help to gather the items and pack them in the diaper bag.

Age 3-Kindergarten
Allow your child to help you set the table for a meal.

Explain that they are helping you prepare for the meal. During the meal talk about how important it was to prepare the table for the meal and how hard/silly it would be to eat without any plates or silverware or glasses.!

Remind them that as important it is to prepare the table for a meal, it is even more important to prepare our hearts and minds to learn from God!
