it’s time for wiggle waggle wednesdays!

Hello Bright Beginnings Families!  It’s been a while since you’ve had a new post!

Wondering why?

The short answer is that I took a technology break during Lent and have had a hard time getting back into the swing of all things technology.  The long answer is a possible future blog post…

So, where are we now?

Wiggle Waggle Wednesdays has begun!

If you are unfamiliar with Wiggle Waggle Wednesdays, here is a quick overview:

All children in the Garden or Backyard classes who attend on Wednesday nights will be assigned a team (orange or blue) and will compete the entire summer to earn points for their team.

Attending Service:  1 point

Wearing Their Team Color:  2 points

Winning Games Played Each Week:  3 points

Bringing a Friend:  5 points

Memorizing the Lord’s Prayer:  10 points

Memorizing Each Month’s Bible Verse: 10 points

Being Able to Recite All Four at the End of Summer:  Priceless (and 20 points)

You can help your child by making sure they attend Bright Beginnings on Wednesday nights, being willing to transport an extra friend or two, reminding them to dress in their team color (anything from hair accessories and hats to shirts and socks count) and working with them to memorize the Lord’s Prayer and verse of the month at home!

June: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”  Genesis 1:1

July:  “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”  Psalm 129:14

August:  “This is love for God to obey His commands.”  1 John 5:3

The Lord’s Prayer:  “Our Father, in Heaven, holy is Your name.  Your kingdom come, your will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven . Give us this day our daily bread.  Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; for Yours is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory forever.  Amen

We will be playing our games either in Kid City or in the grassy area just outside Bright Beginnings.  If you have any concerns about your child being in either of these two areas during service, please let me know.

Our children enjoyed creating and performing their team cheers a couple weeks ago as we kicked off Wiggle Waggle Wednesdays.

I can’t wait to see our children’s artistic interpretations of Genesis 1:1.  Hope to see you there!

If your child has yet to attend a Wednesday evening this summer, there’s always room for more on our teams, so come join us!

Journey To: Victory

Lesson in a Few Words:  God wins!

Story:  Exodus 14

Bible Verse:  “God gives us the victory.”  1 Corinthians 15:57

Prayer: Dear Jesus, I am so glad that You are there to guide me.  You are always the winner!  I can trust You to help me when anything seems hard.  Amen

Take-It-Home Activities:

Parents:  What a great reminder that “God gives us the victory.” (1 Corinthians 15:57).  What are you dealing with right now that you need to give to Him?  Every time you think of it, say a prayer to God, remembering that He promises to give us the victory!

Birth – Age 2:  Play “Hide-&-Seek” (or Peek-a-Boo) as a family around your home.  Remind your children that Moses trusted God to protect the Israelites from Pharaoh and that God will always protect them too!

Age 3 – Kindergarten:  Help your child make a blue ribbon using construction paper and markers.  Help them write “God wins!” on their ribbon and together find a place to hang it where they will see it often.  Remind them that they do not need to fear because God is always near!

Our verse for June is, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”  Deuteronomy 6:5

take it home | 05.15 (and special note)

Series Bible Verse:  2 Peter 1:5-7 “…add this to your life: faith, and to your faith, goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, patience; and to patience, service for God; and to service for God, kindness; and to kindness, love.

Character Element of the Week: Service for God

Science Experiment:  Making Goop!

IMG_20160515_114350312IMG_20160515_114354863

Story:  Nehemiah  (Nehemiah 2:1-6:16)

Bible Verse:  “…and to your patience, add SERVICE FOR GOD”  2 Peter 1:6c

Prayer: Dear God, You have done so much for me.  Help me to serve You by helping others.  Help me to see when others have a need and to do something about it.  Amen

Take-It Home Activities:

Parents:  Is there another parent you know that could use a night out this week?  Give them a call and offer to watch their children.  Your children will love the extra playmates and you’ll be modeling “service to others” to your children.

Birth – Age 2: Even young children can help out at home.  Instead of doing all the chores for them, invite them to help you with simple tasks such as putting their cup in the sink, throwing away their own diaper, helping to pick up toys, putting clean clothes away, etc.  It will most likely take more time, but they will love helping you and the seeds you are planting are worth it!

Age 3 – Kindergarten:  Do your children help out with chores at home?  If not, start with a few simple chores such as making their bed (it doesn’t need to be perfect), helping set the table, sweeping after meals (again, perfection is not the goal), etc.  Make it fun and remind your child that when they are serving their family, they are serving God.

SPECIAL NOTE

Next Sunday, your child will be given the opportunity to put this weeks’ lesson into action!

Our friends in the Garden, Backyard and K-Street will be working together to complete a service project at church by planting flowers outside Bright Beginnings.

So, please make sure to dress your children in “flower planting clothes” next week as we very well may get a little dirty!

The flower planted by your child will be marked with their name so that they can watch it grow over the summer and know that their service to God helped make our church grounds beautiful!FLOWERS
