Our fish represent simplicity.  The less we have, the less we have to manage.  This allows us to stay close to Jesus and depend on Him for everything!

Our dove represents peace.  We can have real peace with God because of what Jesus Christ has done for us on the cross and in His resurrection!

Extreme Sayings Series

K-Street friends acting out scenarios with their “Peace Puppets”

Extreme Saying of the Week: “Live at peace with everyone”

Lesson in a Word: Peace

Story: David Hides in a Cave (1 Samuel 24:1-22)

Bible Verse: “Live in peace.”  Romans 12:18a

Prayer:  Dear Jesus, help me do my part to keep peace around me.  There will be times when I want to act in anger or get even, but help me to have the strength to be peaceful and show kindness instead.  Amen

“Take-It-Home” Activities:

Parents:  It can be extremely difficult at times to be a peaceful parent!  Pray for God to help you bring about peace in your home through your attitudes, words and actions.  Take a minute to think about what helps keep you calm, whether that means getting up early to make sure you have some time to yourself, reading, creating, exercising, cleaning (yes, cleaning works for some of us!), and then make sure to include those in your daily routine.  Don’t be afraid to give yourself a “time-out” when you are frustrated and know that simply getting silly (singing, dancing, laughing) can change attitudes quickly!

Toddlers: Pray over your child this week that God will help them to live out Romans 12:18.

Age 3 – Kindergarten:  Peace is a hard for our little ones because most times it requires selflessness.  Choose this week to focus on peace in your family.  Talk with your child about what peace means, then tell them you are going to be the “Peace Police” this week.  Every time you see your child sharing, allowing someone else to choose or go first, using kind words, saying “I forgive you,” not responding with angry actions, etc. give them a Thank You and a great big hug!

4th Sunday of Advent:  Peace

Story:  Why do we call it Christmas?

Bible Verse:  “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”  Ephesians 4:32

Prayer:  Dear Jesus, thank You for being the perfect gift.  I give you my heart and pray that you will help me forgive others, just as you have forgiven me.  Amen

lily’s voice

12419261_10108065994903374_4761125696282588229_o

“Happy Mother’s Day!” is a sentiment shared by many with sincere intentions to acknowledge mothers on their special day; however, those words can bring about pain and sorrow in the deepest, most private places of a mother’s heart who has suffered loss.

Lily’s Voice is a new ministry at JaxNaz Church that was born out of such sorrow, pain and loss in an effort to bring about healing, beauty and joy.  It is a ministry and support group for parents, grandparents and other family members who are grieving the death of their pre-born or newly-born child.  It doesn’t matter if your loss was a week ago, a month ago, a year ago or 50 years ago; if you feel you still need a chance to grieve the loss of your baby, this ministry is for you.

Among other things, Lily’s Voice will gather for support and encouragement every second Sunday of the month from 5:30-7pm in Room 117 at JaxNaz Church (due to the nature of the group and the pain of loss, we ask that no one bring children with them).

This means the very first meeting of Lily’s Voice will take place on Mother’s Day and we believe that was God ordained!  If you are dreading hearing those words tomorrow because of a loss that you have had, please consider coming tomorrow night.  You don’t have to grieve alone!  As Christ-followers, we believe that life begins at conception and we feel that it is important to grieve even the shortest of lives.  Please join with others who understand what you are going through.

Word of the Week:  Peace

Bible Verse:  Be still and know that I am God.  Proverbs 46:10

Story:  Mary & Martha (Luke 10:38-42)

Prayer:  Lord, I pray that I will not be too busy in my life, but that I will take time to focus on You.  Help me to take time everyday to pray and talk to You.  Help me to be excited about listening to Bible stories and going to church to learn about You.  Amen

“Take-It-Home” Activities

Parents: God is never too busy for us.  Are we ever too busy for him?  This stage of life is naturally busy which is why we must be intentional about spending time with God.  Giving God our time will help prioritize our never ending list of things to do!  Commit to giving God some time each day this week.

Toddlers:  This week spend time reading to your child out of a children’s Bible every day.  If you don’t have one, see Pastor Ryanne and she will give you one!

Age 3 – Kindergarten:  Get a stopwatch and time how long it takes your son or daughter to do the following tasks:  1) jump up and down 25 times.  2) say the ABC’s 3) run from the kitchen to his/her bedroom and back 4) make their bed.  Then talk to them about how fast they were doing those things.  Tell them that it is good to be fast, but God says it is also good to slow down and take time to pray.  Then pray with your child, thanking God for them!
